I didn’t get a chance to write last week. However, I did get a chance to talk to a friend who cyberdates, which I found interesting. To her there’s not much of a difference meeting a man online than meeting him at a bar. She said, “if an individual is going to lie about their status, they will do so either over the internet or in front of you.” This I do agree with, however, I do think there is more of a chance of someone lying to you online than in front of you. Online you can write and say all the words that come to mind as easily as writing them on a piece of paper. I wonder how safe it is to find someone online…
Imagine talking to someone who has a picture of herself online and is a stunning Pamela Anderson look-a-like. You then set up a date to meet at a bar; you’re looking around the bar for the person you saw on the web and when you finally meet….she looks completely different.
What will some guys do?
I worked a long time ago with this guy that went out to meet a girl at a bar. He said that she was nothing like the picture she had on the web. He introduced himself, shook her hand and walked out.
I was like…Wow! How harsh is that? He later told me that if she was bold enough to lie about the way she looked, she could easily lie about anything else. And of course, it goes the other way around also. Apparently there was no attraction there.

Now, for some of the ladies out there, you go out expecting to meet “Charming” and you end up meeting …Fred Flintstone.
What happened to first impressions? You meet someone for the first time, you feel an attraction, suddenly your brain starts wondering in different directions. The eyes make contact, you smile, he smiles. I personally love a man with a great smile. Has simple dating just gone out the window?
I love this quote by Franz Kafka: “May I kiss you then? On this miserable paper? I might as well open the window and kiss the night air.”
